About:

Vitali Klitschko is a Ukrainian world heavyweight-boxing champion. Since 1996, Vitali has won 37 out of 39 fights, displaying excellence throughout his professional boxing career [June 1st, 2009]. In March 2006, Mr. Klitschko entered the Ukrainian political ring by campaigning for the mayor of Kiev on an anti-corruption platform associated with “Pora” party.

Objectives:

Vitali Klitschko aimed to build an international image as not only a successful sportsman but also a strong, talented and promising politician. He wanted to gain credibility in the political and business arenas through sharing his aspirations and commitment to Kiev’s development with the international community.

Our Approach:

TGSV organized a series of high profile events as part of Klitschko’s election campaign. The WBO world champion attended a prestigious press conference at the NASDAQ market site in New York in May, 2008. He was joined by Rudolf Giuliani, a former Mayor of New York, who expressed his support for Klitschko’s policies to combat corruption in Kiev. He had exclusive interviews with Fox News, Forbes, and Newsday. Mr. Klitschko also spent time in New York and Washington meeting with the U.S. business and political leaders, potential investors for Kiev, and top media representatives, sharing his plans to bring Kiev up to European and American standards. Mr. Klitschko’s visit to the United States as part of his promotional campaign received a wide coverage in the national and international mass media.

Vitali Klitschko Bloc won 15 seats and he was elected as people’s Deputy to the Kiev City Council. Klitschko was also appointed to the Ukrainian delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
